Liverpool have reportedly agreed terms with Benfica and midfielder Enzo Fernandez over a deal to bring him to Anfield in the summer....CONTINUE READING

Fernandez has been linked with a move to Liverpool for the past few weeks. Despite their ongoing pursuit of Jude Bellingham, the Argentinian star has emerged on the list as well. And now, according to Argentinian outlet La Capital, Fernandez and Liverpool have now agreed a pre-agreement.

It’s claimed by La Capital that Liverpool believe they have beaten off the likes of Man City and Manchester United to sign the impressive midfielder.

Fernandez got his big moment in the World Cup in Qatar by scoring against Mexico. Indeed, he could go one better as well, with Lionel Messi’s charges in the semi-final against Croatia this week.

Liverpool’s need for new faces in midfield has been highlighted in recent months. Inconsistent form and a panic loan signing of Arthur Melo has seen Liverpool fans question the club’s policy. However, moves for Fernandez and Bellingham do indeed show the Reds mean business.

Lauded as ‘spectacular‘ by Messi, Fernandez is highly rated in Europe. He is said to be valued by Benfica at over £100m, so any deal from Liverpool here would be huge news.

Not to play down the reports as such, but there doesn’t seem to be much mention of this from the major players in the English media so far.

Sure, the report from Argentina might well be right and Fernandez and Benfica might well have agreed some sort of deal.

However, the big question here is whether this scuppers their hopes of Bellingham. With so much already gone into that deal, it would seem odd for FSG and Liverpool to splash so much that they now can’t afford Bellingham as well.

Liverpool fans will hope that both arrive. However, that would be the dream scenario and in all likelihood, the Reds sign just the one.
