Liverpool are reportedly braced for Bayern Munich to finally meet their £40million valuation for Sadio Mane in the coming days....CONTINUE READING

Mane whipped Reds fans into a frenzy last month when he hinted that he wanted to quit Anfield for a new challenge this summer. The 30-year-old has just over 12 months remaining on his current deal and has been unable to come to terms with the Liverpool hierarchy over a fresh contract.

Bayern Munich have emerged as the frontrunners for the wantaway star’s signature, but the German giants have already seen two bids knocked back by the Reds. However, according to The Telegraph, confidence is growing on Merseyside that Bayern will finally table an acceptable offer for Mane this week.

Mane has been a huge hit since he arrived at the club from Southampton back in the summer of 2016 and has evolved into one of the Premier League’s most deadly forward players. The Senegalese star has notched 120 goals in 269 games for the Reds and is set to become the first member of Liverpool’s previously untouchable attacking trio to leave the club.

Although losing Mane will hurt, Liverpool are hoping to soften the blow of the popular attacker’s departure by wrapping up a deal for Benfica hotshot Darwin Nunez.

The 22-year-old Uruguayan striker is being chased by a host of European heavyweights after firing 34 goals in 41 games for the Portuguese giants last term, but the Reds are in pole position to fend rival interest and strike a deal in the coming days.

The same report from The Telegraph claims that talks between Liverpool and Benfica are at an ‘advanced stage’ and that any deal would be worth an initial £60m fee.

However, the total package for Nunez could end up exceeding the club-record £75m fee that the Reds paid to sign Virgil van Dijk back in 2018 based on various add-on clauses and bonuses.

Nunez was left out of the Uruguay side that thrashed Panama 5-0 on Saturday as his blockbuster switch to Anfield edges closer.
