Both sides are now set to face each other on Saturday at Anfield in what is going to be their 61st Premier league meeting in the top flight since 1992.
The match is scheduled to kick-off by 13:30 West Africa Standard time and in view of this, check out how the Blues fared in their last five Premier league visits to Anfield;
1- Liverpool 1 vs 1 Chelsea (28 August 2021)
Chelsea held on after a first-half red card to draw 1-1 and deny Liverpool a win that would have taken them top of the Premier League.
2- Liverpool 0 vs 1 Chelsea (4 March 2021)
Mason Mount scored a superb goal as Chelsea triumphed 1-0 at Anfield for their first win there since 2014, as they climbed into the top four.
3- Liverpool 5 vs 3 Chelsea (22 July 2020)
Liverpool marked their final match at Anfield with a 5-3 victory over Chelsea, to equal the record of 18 home wins in a Premier league campaign.
4- Liverpool 2 vs 0 Chelsea (14 April 2019)
Two goals in three minutes, including an incredible strike from Mohamed Salah, helped Liverpool return to the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win against top-four chasing Chelsea.
5- Liverpool 1 vs 1 Chelsea (25 November 2017)
A late goal from Willian earned Chelsea a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. The substitute hit a cross-cum-shot that beat Simon Mignolet with five minutes remaining to cancel out Mohamed Salah’s goal against his former club.
As seen above, Chelsea have only won one of their last five meetings with Liverpool at Anfield losing twice and drawing twice in the process.
