As it stands now, Lionel Messi has 697 goals in 835 games, while Ronaldo have 696 goals in 918 games. The Portuguese winger can’t be able to catch up with Messi as he is currently playing outside the Europe’s top five leagues. Whereas Messi who surpassed him have 83 games lesser than the Al Nassr striker.
However, it is Robert Lewandowski who is ranked third on the list. The Polish striker who scored a goal against Real Betis, have scored 470 goals in 587 games. Moreso, Karim Benzema who failed to score in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Valencia last night, is ranked fourth on the list.
The French striker have scored 402 in 773 games. Asides Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski and Benzema, no other player have been able to score over 400 goals across all competitions in the Europe’s top five leagues since 2000.
Other players who made the top ten list include Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ( 294 goals), E. Dzeko ( 304 goals), Luis Suarez (311 goals), Sergio Aguero (362 goals), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (391 goals) and Edinson Cavani (367 goals).
However, Aguero is the only player in the list who is currently retired while the rest are still active in the Europe’s top five league, except Suarez who is currently playing in Brazil.
