Clubs all over Europe are preparing to splash the cash this summer in order to bolster their ranks, though there are numerous players who will be available as free agents to provide quality for minimal fees – including Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema. Express Sport takes a look at an unbelievable XI of players who, as it stands, will be without a club this summer…

Goalkeeper: David De Gea

Reports continue to circulate that it is likely that David De Gea will extend his contract at Manchester United, but the Spaniard is still yet to put pen to paper on a new deal.

The Red Devils are hoping to sign a new shot-stopper this summer which could be disrupting negotiations, though the club can fall back on their one-year extension clause if talks do not appear to be going in the right direction.

Defence: Raphael Guerreiro, Sergio Ramos, Evan N’Dicka, Nacho Fernandez

Paris Saint-Germain’s reshuffle is set to start with the departure of Sergio Ramos this summer, with the veteran defender attracting plenty of interest in Saudi Arabia. His ex-teammate, Nacho Fernandez, is also set to leave Real Madrid, with Inter Milan particularly keen on acquiring the services of the Real Madrid star.

Former Arsenal target Evan N’Dicka, of Frankfurt, is also attracting plenty of interest in the Premier League given his stellar performances in the Bundesliga – with United speculatively linked with signing the Frenchman.

Midfield: Adrien Rabiot, N’Golo Kante, Ilkay Gundogan

United are likely to be more interested in acquiring Juventus playmaker Adrien Rabiot this summer though, having come incredibly close to signing the Frenchman previously. N’Golo Kante is also a target after it emerged that Chelsea were struggling to strike a deal for the playmaker to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester City are still waiting to learn whether Ilkay Gundogan will captain their side next season, with the German international appearing to be weighing up his options.

Barcelona are firmly in the picture, though Arsenal are also monitoring his situation in the hope of adding further leadership to their ranks.

Forward: Lionel Messi, Karim Benzema, Wilfried Zaha

Unbelievably, Messi is set to be without a club when the season officially ends. The winger does not want to remain with PSG and is expected to make a decision over his future imminently, with Inter Miami, Barcelona and numerous Saudi clubs hopeful of signing one of the all-time greats.

Similarly, Karim Benzema is also attracting interest from the Middle East though Real Madrid are hopeful that their No 9 will extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu and have tabled a lucrative offer.

Crystal Palace are also waiting to learn whether Wilfried Zaha will sign the bumper contract that he has been offered, amid interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and abroad.
