In a statement released on Friday, KeNHA noted that the CBD-bound lane will remain closed from Saturday, April 13 at 10:00 pm to Sunday, April 14 at 5:00 am.

The closure is to allow contractors to install service ducts on the closed section. The authority further provided alternative routes for motorists, urging drivers to cooperate with traffic marshalls deployed to various points within the Central Business District (CBD).

“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the notice read in part. Those plying Kenyatta Avenue from the CBD are advised to use Uhuru Highway during that period.

Also closed, is the Haile Selassie Avenue (Upper Hill bound) between the Neno Evangelism Church detour and Haile Selassie Roundabout.

The particular schedule will commence on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 10:00 pm to Monday, April 14, 2024, at 5:00 pm.

Haile-Selassie Avenue is one of the busiest roads in the capital city and is majorly used by motorists seeking to access the Central Business District (CBD).

Drivers have also been cautioned of major traffic disruption in the remaining roads within the CBD, especially those close to the affected area.

It is therefore advisable to avoid the area undergoing construction until the maintenance is complete, to minimise congestion on the affected days.
