The IGP said that the operatives have also been outstanding in safeguarding the country against evolving threats associated with explosive materials.

Mr Egbeokun, in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobbi on Friday in Abuja, said during a meeting with with Commanders and Directing Staff of the unit that they must remain professional in the discharge of their duties.

The IGP particularly noted the safe rendering of anti-disturbance IED at the University of Maiduguri and road clearance operations in various locations in Borno.

He said the achievements had facilitated the reintegration of citizens into their ancestral homes in the state.

Mr Egbeokun acknowledged the unit for recovering five IEDs from an unregistered vehicle after neutralising three members of a separatist group in Anambra..

The IGP called on the EOD Commanders to be more active, vigilant and responsive in monitoring the production, importation, storage, transportation, distribution and usage of explosives nationwide.

He further urged the commanders to be professional in combating armed and violent criminals in the country.
