According to an interview with Yvonne on Candid Tuko Talks, Mary tried to make her marriage work for 16 years by having a child. Unfortunately, Mary experienced seven miscarriages and one premature birth but still kept pushing and endured abuse from her husband. She said,
“I lost 8 babies trying to save my marriage but still I lost it.”
