Soon, Dafine encountered her first challenge in navigating the bustling July 4th celebrations that necessitated her flight cancellation and she had to spend the night at the airport. She pressed on and reached her host’s abode the next day, where she was greeted with a warm welcome, complete with a bed, mattress, bedding, and food for a week – a gesture that deeply touched her heart.
Her host, cognizant of the importance of self-sufficiency, advised her not to become a burden on others and to strive for independence. This advice proved invaluable as Dafine embarked on her quest for employment. However, this was made more challenging by her lack of transportation and a driver’s license.
Initially, she secured a job that required frequent travel to various locations, forcing her to rely on costly Uber rides that drained her meagre financial resources. Undaunted, she persevered until she found a position closer to her residence, albeit still necessitating transportation expenses.
