– Egypt 0-0 Mozambique
Egypt’s bid to win the Under 20 Africa Cup of Nations on home soil got underway today with a tough game against Mozambique.
However, they did not get off to the perfect start they had hoped for, as Mozambique held them to a goalless draw in today’s meeting.
Throughout the game, the host were the superior team. They had more shots on goal and possession, but they couldn’t break down the tenacious Mozambican defense.
– Senegal 1-0 Nigeria
The Flying Eagles were defeated 1-0 by Senegal today at the Cairo International Stadium. The Young Lions got off to a solid start and took the lead when Souleymane Faye scored off a rebound. The Flying Eagles struggled in the first half, failing to register a single shot on target.
They did, however, improve when they returned in the second half and were presented with some clear-cut chances that they failed to convert. They were forced to finish the game with 10 men after Abdullahi was given his second yellow card for a terrible tackle that injured an opponent.
