While there’s no guaranteed way to prevent an enlarged prostate, there’s some evidence that certain foods may help. Here’s a look at some of the most promising foods for shrinking an enlarged prostate.

5. Salmon

Salmon is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are known for their anti-inflammatory effects. This is important because inflammation is thought to play a role in the development of an enlarged prostate.

In one study, men who ate salmon at least once a week were 50% less likely to develop an enlarged prostate than those who didn’t eat salmon at all.

4. Pomegranate

Pomegranate is another food that’s rich in antioxidants, like lycopene. In fact, pomegranate juice has been shown to be even more effective than lycopene in promoting prostate health.

One study found that men who drank pomegranate juice daily for three months had a significant decrease in their levels of prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a marker of prostate cancer.

One study found that men who drank four or more cups of green tea per day were 48% less likely to develop an enlarged prostate than those who didn’t drink green tea at all.

2. Nuts

Nuts are a great source of healthy fats, antioxidants, and other nutrients that are beneficial for prostate health. In fact, one study found that men who ate the most nuts (including walnuts, almonds, and hazelnuts) were 30% less likely to develop an enlarged prostate than those who ate the least.
