Reasons why men cry on their wedding day
Admiring the bride in her wedding gown or walking down the aisle

With the bride expected to leave her own family home to the venue of the wedding, the groom only gets to see his wife-to-be minutes before the ceremony begins. This, therefore, leaves the man in suspense as to the appearance of his woman on their d-day.

So, when grooms, for the first time, see their bride looking glamorous and spectacular in her wedding gown or outfit either shortly before the ceremony or when they are walked down the aisle, some of them are left speechless by the stunning beauty they are about to get married to and begin to cry.

They are suddenly emotional, and as they cry, some whisper or say aloud that their women are the most beautiful in the world. The man is thrilled by his soon-to-be wife’s appearance, adores her like an angel, and cannot wait to spend the rest of his life with her. It is simply the tears of joy.
Overcome with emotions

Overcome with emotions

Some men are simply overcome with emotion on their wedding day. They suddenly realise that the woman they chased hard for either a long or short time and probably got into trouble while attempting to woo her will suddenly become their wife and will presumably bear their surname.

So, probably during or after their marriage vows and the officiating minister declares the couple as husband and wife, some men just enter into another realm of emotions with tears running down their cheeks, especially when they are asked to kiss their newly-wedded wife.

It is the realisation of the groom that he has finally gotten married to the woman of his dreams, his best friend and companion.

Also, the presence of parents, family, and friends being present to support and cheer them overwhelms some men on their special day, and they are momentarily unable to stop the tears from flowing.

Their presence is special because these folks have supported the groom for a while, know that he desires to be happy, and are present in person celebrating that ever-lasting, big moment that the groom has always wanted.

Remembering how their love story began

Remembering how their love story began

Whenever some men face their soon-to-be wives and begin the recitation of wedding vows, they recall with nostalgia how their journey as a couple began. It further intensifies when grooms give their speeches at their wedding reception and audibly recollect the process that made their wedding day possible.

This happens because some grooms were initially given tough times by their wives to the extent that they were blanked or served breakfast for a while or had to endure initial rejection from the bride’s parents, or had to forcefully get approval from their (grooms’) families or even cast aside their families to ensure that they married the love of their life.

Therefore, some grooms remember all these challenges that they went through, including heartbreaks and reconciliations, immediately after they spot their wives on the wedding day or are detailing how their relationship started during their speech at the reception.

The grooms are amazed that their dreams of getting married are finally being realised, and they become emotional. Remembering all the struggles could sometimes lead to a rush of emotions to the extent that tears just start rolling down their cheeks uncontrollably.

Scared of marriage and/or scared of commitment

Some grooms are genuinely happy that they are married and got wedded to the love of their lives, but they begin to fret and cry when their marriages are solemnised due to the issues that lay ahead.

Issues such as financial constraints, the possibility of having children, the possibility of being committed to one woman (especially those who love their wives but know they cannot zip up when they see other women), and the need to alter their lifestyle and make big changes to accommodate their wives rack the grooms’ brains a lot.

For some of them, they realise that their “playboy” stage of life is over and have to be responsible for another individual and her needs.

They also realise that it is now two to tango – they have to take decisive decisions with their better half and are probably not comfortable doing so, especially in certain areas like finance. All these issues make the grooms scared, and they begin to cry like a river or exit the public view of the wedding venue and look for somewhere secluded to shed a tear and weep profusely think about their future and that of their new family.

For grooms whose marriages were contracted or arranged, the thought of marriage is worse for them.

They begin to question why they were not allowed to marry the women they desired to or who have wanted to marry and instead forced to marry women whom they barely know, probably have traits, features, or characteristics that they dislike and are not pretty, respectful, hardworking and patient as they had anticipated. The realisation of all these make some grooms scared of what life portends for them, and they just begin to cry.
Being dramatic

Well, some men just like to be dramatic and may decide to cry to draw attention to themselves, as if the spotlight is not already focused on them on their big day. Probably such men want to test their acting skills or want to get their wedding guests and even members of the online community to react to the scenario in a bid to trend on their wedding day.

Some others probably just want to show their feelings and excitement on their special day.
