How did the five-year-old end up falling into the hole?

The accident occurred on the evening of Thursday, June 27, while the little girl was playing with her friends in their area of residence.

According to a report by Citizen Digital, Kitengela residents voiced their frustrations, questioning why the manhole that claimed the life of the little girl had been left open.

They blamed the owner of the plot where the manhole was located, stating that it should have been maintained to prevent such a tragedy.

“The child would be alive had the concerned persons taken precaution and sealed the manhole,” one local, “one resident said.

Bruce Likama, the Kajiado East sub-county administrator, expressed his condolences to the family of the little girl and promised to inspect buildings in the area to ensure they meet safety standards.

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Josephine Mwongeli left her residence in Mukuru Kwa Reuben to seek casual employment such as doing laundry, while her son played with other children.

The five-year-old, who had left school in Pre-Primary 2 due to a lack of fees, tragically died when a section of a house being demolished on President William Ruto’s orders collapsed on him.

Mwongeli, a single mother of five, was not informed until she returned home several hours later.
