The Brazilian won La Liga and a fifth Champions League trophy at Real Madrid last season. He soon after made the switch to United where he has completely transformed the team’s fortunes in the middle of the park.
The 31-year-old is now undoubtedly one of the first names on the team sheet whenever Erik ten Hag selects which players are to start a game.
The Brazilian ace has been incredibly impressive since his summer move from Real Madrid, with the five-time Champions League winner helped United win their first trophy since 2017.
The Reds currently sit third in the Premier League table and are still competing on all remaining three fronts. Casemiro has made 33 appearances for the Reds since arriving at Old Trafford, registering five goals and five assists.
Fabrizio Romano spoke about the Brazilian in his Daily Briefing and opened up on the Red Devils’ pursuit of a marquee midfielder during the transfer window. “When the situation changed in August, Manchester United decided to proceed and Erik ten Hag was crucial as he spoke directly to the player [Casemiro].
It was a difficult signing but an excellent one. “There was nothing concrete with other clubs, despite links with Chelsea. Real Madrid wanted to keep the player, but when Manchester United called, Casemiro decided to accept and force his exit from him. He was not close to joining anyone else.”
