Things got worse on Sunday, April 28, night, when the Kijabe dam burst its banks and released floodwaters that swept through villages and nearby roads, resulting in massive loss of lives and destruction of properties.

An emotional viral video of a man carrying his dead son from the scene of the Mai Mahiu floods has left many Kenyans disturbed.

In the video, the man is seen carrying his son on his shoulder as he walks past a crowd of people standing on the scene.

Nakuru County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi confirmed on Monday, April 29, that the death toll had reached 42 following the collapse of dam walls, which engulfed homes.

Ndanyi added that search and rescue efforts were in progress, with numerous individuals being transported to hospitals.

According to Citizen TV, the ongoing search and rescue operation suggests the possibility of additional individuals being trapped in the mud.
