The first half of this game saw Arsenal dominate in possession as would have been expected as they created a few clear-cut goalscoring opportunities here and there which they failed to convert against Brentford.
Leandro Trossard gave Arsenal the lead in the 42nd minute of this encounter but unfortunately the goal was ruled out for offside. Both sides eventually headed into the halftime break with a goalless scoreline, hoping for a possible breakthrough in the second interval.
Arsenal finally broke the deadlock in the final minutes of the game thanks to a brilliant goal from Kai Havertz which handed the Gunners with an important 1-0 over Brentford at full-time.
Chelsea were back to default settings in the competition today as they suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Newcastle United at the St James’ Park Stadium.
