Musonda confirmed his departure from the club, but vowed to continue playing despite a serious knee injury.

The Belgian moved to Stamford Bridge at the age of 15 in 2012 and was seen as one of the most talented players in the club’s academy.

He made his debut for the west London side as a teenager under former boss Antonio Conte.

However, his career has been marred by PCL injury he sustained while on loan at Dutch side, Vitesse, keeping him on the sidelines since 2018.

His contract came to an end at the just concluded season and the 25-year-old has taken the difficult decision to leave the club.

The Belgian wrote a message to fans on Instagram and confirmed his exit.

Musonda said: “It has now been 10 years…and as the season ends, that journey has come to an end.

“In all honesty, I would be lying if I said that I thought I would be leaving this way and even more so if I thought that I would go four years without playing football after my knee injury.”

On his future, Musonda continued, “for certain, I will be back playing next season.”
