Erik ten Hag’s first full campaign in charge of Manchester United is labeled as a “successful season”.

With the 2023 transfer window now officially open for business, the former Ajax head coach, will do everything in his power to narrow Man City’s dominance in England.

The Dutchman wants a new striker, as well as a midfielder, similar to Barcelona’s Frenkie De Jong, a new centre-back and a new goalkeeper this summer to mount a serious title challenge next season.

Now, with all that in, below is how Manchester United’s 2023 summer transfer window could look like if certain deals pushes through.

Potential in

With Martial and Weghorst poised to leave Old Trafford in the next few weeks, bringing in a new striker would be Manchester United’s primary objective this summer.

The Red Devils are preparing for life without Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst so as to pave way for the arrival of Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane is Erik ten Hag’s top candidate to fill in the No.9 void at Old Trafford.

However, luring the Englishman to join Manchester United this summer wil be difficult ask, given Daniel Levy’s unwillingness to strenghten a rival club.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and France’s Kolo Muani, are also on Manchester United’s transfer rader but for now, Harry Kane’s arrival is Manchester United main priority this first few weeks.

One of either Arden Rabiot, Youri Tielemans, Mason Mount or James Maddison could also arrive as Manchester United’s 2023 midfield signing but the Red Devils are yet to make any official approach for any of the 4 midfielders mentioned above.

Napoli’s Japanese international, Kim Min-jae and Ajax Jurrien Timber is also monitored by Manchester United as a potential partner for Lisandro Martinez next season.

Potential out

This is the area of transfer where a lot of movement are expected to be done at Manchester United this summer.

England centre-back, Harry Maguire, could leave as his lack of playing time has been questioned by England boss, Gareth Southgate. Maguire is currently out of favour under Erik ten Hag and his departure would reduce a lot criticism on his neck.

Donny Van de Beek, David De Gea, Anthony Martial and Scott Mctominay could all depart in the summer. Elsewhere, the club has already confirmed the departure of Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Timothy Fosu-mensah.

The likes of Facunde Pellistri and Anthony Elanga could both leave on temporary basis as Manchester United would like to give the youngster some playing time elsewhere.

Contracts

David De Gea’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain as the Spaniard approaches the final month of his current United contract but Erik ten Hag has clarified that he wants the former Atletico Madrid shotstopper to stay.

Getting Marcus Rashford to sign a contract extension remains Man United’s main motive this summer in terms of contractual talks surrounding the club.

Others like Sancho, Wan-bissaka, Fred, Varane and Luke Shaw are all tied down to long term contracts at Manchester United.
