However, there has been mixed feelings regarding the mode of choosing Buhari’s successor. While some politicians opted for primaries, others believed it would be better if a power rotation is considered. Some felt it would be ideal if power shift from the North to the South. Although, not everyone agrees with this because they feel it’s not constitutional unless they have an agreement within themselves.

Heading to South West, the likes of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Babatunde Fashola, Yemi Osinbajo, Kayode Fayemi, Seyi Makinde, Akeredolu are mentioned as possible candidates to replace President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023. The likes of Peter Obi, Rochas Okorocha, Kingsley Moghalu, Orji Uzor Kalu are mentioned as possible candidates in the South East.

The likes of Nasir El-Rufai, Ibrahim Ganduje, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal, Bukola Saraki, Yahaya Bello, Wamakko are listed as possible candidates from the North. While names like Rotimi Amaechi, Godswill Akpabio and Nyesom Wike are considered as candidates the South-South region might provide should they decide to run for the presidency.

Although the governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai hasn’t signified interest regarding the presidential election in 2023, many people remained optimistic that he would stand a chance if he chose to contest.

Nasir El-Rufai’s tenure as the governor of Kaduna state would come to an end in 2023 and he is doing exploit in the state the same way he did at the Federal Capital Territory when he was the minister. His political experience could pave way for him if he decides to run for the presidency in 2023.

On the other hand, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is well known for his influence in South West, Nigeria. His political influence earned him the “Jagaban of Borgu emirate” and the “Asiwaju of Lagos”. The stalwart of the All Progressive Congress seems to have huge supporters just like Nasir El-Rufai, but who would you vote for if they chose to run for the presidency in 2023?
