The brain is one of the most complicated parts of the human body. This three-pound organ is thought to be the seat of intelligence, a sensory interpreter, a body movement regulator, and a behaviour controller. The brain is the wellspring of all the attributes that distinguish mankind, and it is housed in a bone shell that is cleaned by protecting fluid.

The study of the brain has piqued the interest of philosophers and scientists for years. They now consider the brain to be practically incomprehensible. The brain, on the other hand, is now beginning to reveal its mysteries. Because of the rapid rate of study in neurological and behavioural science, as well as the development of new research tools, scientists have learnt more about the brain in the last ten years than in all prior centuries.

According to WebMD, there are habits that you display on a regular basis that may be harmful to your health. Consuming a significant amount of something is one of these habits. Some of the things you put into your body contain dangerous substances, and if you consume too much of them, your mental health may suffer.

Here are three behaviours that are harmful to your brain.

1. Depriving Yourself Of Good Sleep.

The mental impacts of insufficient sleep can be more difficult to detect than the physical effects of sleep deprivation. The impact of not getting enough sleep on the brain can be the most harmful of all the adverse effects of not getting enough sleep.

At its most basic level, the impacts of lack of sleep on the brain disturb your mood as well as your ability to remember and learn new things.

In addition, not getting enough sleep can overstimulate areas of the brain, perhaps resulting in irreversible brain damage because the brain is unable to adjust to new events. It permanently changes itself when you force it to work in a new state on a frequent basis.

2. Playing Loud Music With Earphones Or Headphones.

In just 30 minutes, you can permanently damage your hearing by listening to your headphones at full volume. Hearing loss in older persons has been linked to brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease and brain tissue atrophy.

This could be because your brain is working so hard to understand what’s going on around you that it can’t remember what you’ve heard. So bring it down to no more than 60% of your device’s maximum level and listen for no more than a couple of hours at a time.

3. Excessive smoking.

Excessive smoking might cause your brain to shrink, which isn’t good. It wreaks havoc on your memory and makes you twice as likely to develop dementia, such as Alzheimer’s. Heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and high blood pressure are all caused by it.
