The single father was forced to step up his parenting role after his wife’s death that left him alone to care for the newborn twins.
Isaac Ntwiheba from Musanze district, Rwanda, was previously involved in a fatal accident that challenged him physically.
He could not take his wife to the hospital when she was ready to deliver, as he had broken an arm and a leg.
Death after delivery at the hospital. “There is no way I would have accompanied her to the hospital following the tragic accident I was involved in, so I remained at home. Thankfully the neighbours offered to rush her to the nearest medical facility as she was pregnant with twins.
The doctors suggested she deliver through the caesarean section at the hospital as she was in a delicate state and was an emergency call. The operation was successfully carried out, and the children were healthy,” he told Afrimax English.
However, the mother developed complications in the theatre after the surgery and passed away an hour after delivery.
“It was a challenging situation after the information I received from the hospital. She died from over bleeding. It wasn’t easy to understand. Friends and family did the burial,” he recalled.
Looking after twins without employment. Ntwiheba said while the birth of the twins would have been a moment of celebration and joy, the death of his wife overshadowed the mood.
The single dad faces the daunting task of raising the twins on his while also grappling with physical limitations and unemployment.
“Life has not been easy, but God has used people to come and support us. Looking after the twins without employment is hard,” he added.
Dad raising four kids by himself. In a similar story, a 47-year-old single dad cared for his four children alone after his wife deserted him.
Wayne Toh, who had been a single parent for 12 years, said despite the task being difficult, he could not quit as his kids, three sons and a daughter, looked up to him.
“Initially, I wanted to prove that I could do it because I tell myself I cannot fail. Why? I just started my business, ‘I cannot fail.’ Then when she walked out on me, the kids depend on me, ‘I cannot fail.’…I kept telling myself, ‘I cannot give up,” he told Mothership…CONTINUE READING>>
