The top-table matchup between Bendel Insurance and Remo Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin was the most important game of the weekend.

Many had expected a close match, but Insurance crushed the visiting Remo Stars 3-0 with a ruthless performance to maintain their unblemished record.

Even though the Remo Stars have not beaten Bendel Insurance in their last seven meetings away from home, their current form suggests they might try something different this time.

That was not to be, however, as the Benin Gunners romped to a 3-0 victory, propelling them to the top of Group A.

Remo Stars had kept clean sheets in every game this season prior to the game on Saturday, but Imade Osarenkhoe’s goal allowed Insurance to break through their impenetrable defense.

Imade’s early-minute strike gave him four goals in as many games.

Imade was also involved in Ismael Sarki’s second goal, which came about as a result of Kayode Bankole’s blunder.

In the 78th minute, substitute Austin Ogunye converted Divine Nwachukwu’s nicely placed pass to give the hosts their third goal.
