Troyes 1-3 Olympique Lyon: Olympique Lyonnais extended their winning streak against Troyes to 11 games with a hard-fought 3-1 victory at Stade de l’Aube, thanks to goals from Bradley Barcola and Rayan Cherki, to reignite their hopes of finishing in the top six.
PSG 2-1 Toulouse: A moment of Lionel Messi magic was the difference as Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to beat Toulouse 2-1 and extend their unbeaten streak in Ligue 1 to 33 games (W28, D5).
Following Branco van den Boomen’s well-placed free-kick midway through the first half, PSG found themselves trailing visitors Toulouse at the top of the table.
The Dutch midfielder pushed the ball past the PSG wall, leaving goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma stranded and giving the Occitanie side the most unlikely of leads.
Toulouse had a chance to make it two when Zakaria Aboukhlal nodded home at the back post, only for the assistant referee’s flag to rule the goal out.
The disallowed goal seemed to spark PSG into life, with one of their superstars netting a brilliant goal to draw things level. Achraf Hakimi’s curling strike from outside the box sailed past goalkeeper Maxime Dupe’s outstretched arm, sending a raucous Parc des Princes into raptures.
Despite being below par in the first period, PSG quickly demonstrated why they are chasing a record 11th Ligue 1 title.
Continuing to impress despite his age, Messi’s tantalizing shot from outside the penalty area whistled past Dupe, bringing the entire Parc des Princes to its feet.
Messi scored a trademark goal, dancing onto a stray ball just outside the box before curling it into the far left-hand corner.
Messi came close to scoring almost the same goal just before full time, weaving his way through the Toulouse defense before flashing a shot over the crossbar.
