As they trounced their London rivals 3-1 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they kept themselves firmly in the battle for a top-four berth and, in doing so, may have ruined West Ham’s chances.

Spurs took an early lead thanks to an own goal from Kurt Zouma and a second goal from Heung-min Son after a beautiful ball from Harry Kane.

West Ham got back into the game before the break thanks to Said Benrahma, but the Hammers were unable to complete another epic comeback on Tottenham’s turf as Son clinched the victory late on.

The victory lifts Antonio Conte’s team to fifth place, three points behind Arsenal, who have a game in hand, while West Ham’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League now appear to be dependent on their Europa League success.

Spurs had a number of chances to end the game on the break, with Dejan Kulusevski shooting from outside the area and Sergio Reguilon hitting a weak effort straight at Fabianski.

When Kane was brought in with 10 minutes remaining, he should have put the game out of reach, but his shot looped over the bar.

With his third assist, he was involved as Tottenham finally put the game to bed. The goal was straightforward: Lloris sent a long ball forward, Kane flicked it on, and Son was clean through to score his second of the game and seal a crucial three points.
