Ronaldo has been in the news, linked with a move away from Man Utd this summer. Reports have said Ronaldo has asked Man Utd to allow him to leave should they receive a suitable offer.

Among the clubs linked with Ronaldo were also Bayern Munich. But the German giants quickly distanced themselves from a move for the 37-year-old.

Salihamidzic has now revealed why Bayern opted not to make a move for Ronaldo despite losing star striker Robert Lewandowksi to Barcelona this summer.

Salihamidzic revealed the club officials voted against making a move for Ronaldo, given how equipped they are in the attacking department.

“When you now see how our attack is equipped – even without Robert Lewandowski – it’s just difficult from a sporting and financial point of view,” Salihamidzic told BILD’s Phrasenmaher podcast, as quoted by 90min.

“We have eight players for four positions up front. We have established top players who are in the prime of their footballing age. We have talent that we want to give playing time to, so we all voted to go through with our plan.

“[Signing Ronaldo] was out of the question for us. We are very happy with how we’re equipped.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has not had the best of starts to the new season. Erik ten Hag dropped Ronaldo to the bench in their first game of the season, against Brighton. Ronaldo, though, did make an appearance, coming off the bench in the second half.

Ten Hag started Ronaldo in their second Premier League game of the season, against Brentford. But the star striker could not contribute much as the Red Devils suffered a heavy defeat. Brentford inflicted a 4-0 defeat on Man Utd.
