The former Juventus ace failed to get a move away from Old Trafford during the last transfer window as his desire to keep playing in the UEFA Champions League was left unfulfilled following Man United’s ineptitude to finish in the Premier League top four last term.
So far this season, Cristiano has been relegated to just one start in the English topflight which came in the 4-nil drubbing at the hands of Brentford.
Although he’s managed to find the back of the net in Europe, the Portuguese star is yet to break his duck in the EPL which explains why his market value has dropped from the initial €30 million to now €20m.
But then, even at the age of 37, you can’t bank against Ronaldo getting back to scoring ways in the league.
With more than 30 league matches still to be played, Cristiano should grab any opportunity he gets to make an impact either by getting on the score sheet or recording an assist. And if he can inspire United to Premier League and Europa League trophies charge, then his market value could experience a drastic improvement.
Hopefully, his goal yesterday against Sheriff Tiraspol will be the first of many to come in a season that’s threatening to be one of the worst in his long, glorious career.
