Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s excellent work on the right flank resulted in a pinpoint cross, and Scott McTominay’s delivery found Rasmus Højlund, who tapped in against his former club.
Things quickly went from bad to worse for Copenhagen as Manchester United added another goal. Alejandro Garnacho’s shot was parried into Højlund’s path, allowing him to score, putting United 2-0 ahead.
However, the game took a dramatic turn in the 42nd minute when Marcus Rashford received a red card for an alleged stamp on Elias Jelert. Copenhagen wasted no time capitalizing on their one-man advantage.
Mohamed Elyounoussi scored a fine volley from inside the box in the 45th minute, and the first half ended with a wild twist when Harry Maguire handled the ball in the box, and Diogo Gonçalves converted the penalty.
The second half continued in a chaotic fashion, with Manchester United maintaining control despite being down to ten men. A lengthy VAR review resulted in a penalty for Manchester United, and Bruno Fernandes blasted it into the net, restoring their lead.
With a slim advantage and a numerical disadvantage, Manchester United focused on game management. However, Copenhagen fought back and leveled the score with Lukas Lerager’s late goal.
The drama didn’t end there, as 17-year-old Roony Bardghji sealed a historic win for Copenhagen by striking a loose ball into the net in the 87th minute.
As a result, Manchester United found themselves at the bottom of the group, while Copenhagen climbed to second place, edging ahead of Galatasaray…CONTINUE READING>>
