The former Manchester City star is seen rejoicing in Chelsea’s colours in a painting that has been placed on the West Stand within the stadium, according to Chelsea’s official social media accounts.

When the Blues play Premier League rivals Tottenham in their first home game of the new season on August 14, the £50 million signing will have a good view of his mural.

Sterling, who was born in Jamaica, came to London when he was five years old. There, he grew up and participated in QPR’s youth programme before transferring to Liverpool at the age of 15.

In response to the England star’s return to London, Chelsea tweeted an image of the artwork along with the phrase “back on home soil.”

At the Etihad, Sterling had an extremely successful seven-year run, winning four Premier League championships in addition to numerous domestic cup medals.

At Stamford Bridge, Thomas Tuchel’s team will be hoping Sterling can have a similar effect as the Blues try to catch up to rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.

Prior to making his first start in their 4-0 thrashing by Arsenal during their tour of the United States, he made his debut off the bench in a penalty shootout loss to MLS club Charlotte FC.

Chelsea still has one more preseason match against Udinese left before they begin their Premier League campaign on August 6 against Frank Lampard’s Everton.

Fans are thrilled with his signing, but opinions on the painting honouring his idol have been divided.

It was “too soon,” according to another fan, for Chelsea to hang a mural honouring Sterling inside Stamford Bridge.

However, other viewers were pleased, with one commenting, “What a painting! Raheem, welcome to the Bridge.
