The incident is said to have taken place at the Porta Garibaldi area in the city of Milan on July 3.
Tiemoue BakayokoPolice had set up a roadblock following a shootout between two gangs with Bakayoko stopped and searched by police at the checkpoint in a terrifying ordeal.
Video footage shows Bakayoko – who spent last season on loan at Italian giants Milan–being restrained by an officer and pushed against the side of a police car at gunpoint. He’s then searched before the officer in question appears to realise his mistake.
The officer appears empty Bakayoko’s pockets and place the contents on the roof of the police car, before two other officers – who have their guns drawn – point towards his car, where another occupant was being watched by a cop.
And the video footage cuts off at the point where the police appear to realise that they have made an error, possibly after Bakayoko explained who he was to clarify that this was a case of mistaken identity.
Bakayoko was born in Paris and played for Paris 15e Olympique at the age of five. Aged nine, he played for CA Paris Charenton before moving to Montrouge FC 92.
As a young player, Bakayoko suffered a broken leg which stopped him playing football for eight months.
In 2008, at the age of 13, he joined the academy at Rennes. At 14, he was rejected by the renowned Clairefontaine academy.
On 15 July 2017, Bakayoko left Monaco and signed for Chelsea on a five-year contract for a fee around the margin of £40 million, making him the club’s second most expensive signing at the time, after Fernando Torres.
Bakayoko failed to impress in his first season. He was criticised for his performances by fans and pundits alike, with games against both Watford, where he was sent off after only 30 minutes.
Also a 3–0 away defeat by Newcastle United on the last day of the Premier League season being singled out as two of his worst.
