Last summer, Kalidou Koulibaly took the shirt number 26 after Chelsea signed him permanently from Napoli for a fee of £33million.

The Senegalese Defender was a Leader at Napoli because he was their Skipper before joining Chelsea so, no one bat an eye when he asked John Terry for the shirt number 26 last summer.

However, Kalidou Koulibaly didn’t sit comfortably into that role last season as he struggled for consistency throughout the season. Chelsea had to cut their loss by getting rid of him this summer by selling him to Saudi Arabia Pro League club Al Hilal.

After just one season, the shirt number 26 is going to return back to where it came from and probably remain untouched for next season.

At the moment, Chelsea doesn’t have any Defender that’s worthy of wearing the shirt number. There’s Thiago Silva in the team but the Brazilian Defender would hardly drop the shirt number 6 for shirt number 26.
