The Blues are still waiting to conduct their first piece of business in the transfer window this summer, though plenty of work appears to be happening behind the scenes....CONTINUE READING

Director Marina Granovskaia has left as part of the Chelsea board reshuffle as new owner Todd Boehly will step in as interim sporting director for the rest of this transfer window before a new one is appointed.

Atletico Madrid’s Andrea Berta alongside the likes of former Liverpool director Michael Edwards have already been linked to the vacant position but there won’t be an appointment in this regard anytime soon with all focus solely on this £200million squad rebuild that Boehly has promised manager Thomas Tuchel.

When it comes to the squad itself, reports claim there could be more departures before there are arrivals. The Athletic have reported that Romelu Lukaku is close to rejoining Inter Milan on loan just one-year after he made the club-record move back to Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, there has been some significant movement on Chelsea’s pursuit of other targets including in the attacking areas. Will the Blues be able to sign both Raheem Sterling and Ousmane Dembele? These questions still have to be answered throughout the next few months.

But in the meantime, football.london brings you all the latest transfer rumours at Chelsea as the window heats up.

The Spanish outlet insists that Dembele’s wish is to stay at Barcelona, but since there have been no new movements since the last attempt for a renewal, the other clubs continue to be options.

Chelsea are labelled as the club who’ve been ‘pushing the most’ to get the signing done. And on their side there’s the presence of Thomas Tuchel, who worked with the forward at Barcelona.

On the Jules Kounde subject

Chelsea have decided that they will sign a Premier League-proven central defender to partner main transfer priority Jules Kounde in the defence for 2022/23, according to reports, as Josko Gvardiol and Kalidou Koulibaly amongst others learn their fate.

Of course, the Blues still have a battle on their hands for Kounde with Barcelona also hoping to sign the French international in spite of their financial woes. However, it is understood that Chelsea are still the overwhelming favourites to land the 23-year-old with more progression on the deal expected in the next week, if the latest reports in the European media are to be believed.

football.london understands that at least two centre-half signings are on the agenda for Boehly this summer, who looks set to act as a temporary sporting director amid links to Michael Edwards andAndrea Berta following Marina Granovskaia’s exit.

The identity of the second target remains up in the air with many of the European elite being linked; the likes of Koulibaly, Gvardiol, Matthijs De Ligt, Presnel Kimpembe and others have all been named as potential candidates.

But it’s options closer to home that are reportedly to be given priority as Kounde’s new defensive partner according to TalkChelsea. Apparently, Chelsea want to sign a player with Premier League experience to partner the Sevilla star in defence.

Ousmane Dembele makes major Chelsea transfer decision after Barcelona U-turn

Chelsea target Ousmane Dembele is ‘happy’ to remain at Barcelona under Xavi due to the good relationship he has with the iconic former midfielder as the Blues are now forced into an unwanted transfer U-turn.

Worryingly, with Chelsea remaining in pole position, they may need to take the hint that Barca’s number 7 could be using their name for a new deal which is what Xavi wants to happen amid the financial stresses that can be found in Catalunya.

This is a sentiment echoed by Achraf Ben Ayad who has close links to the La Liga giants and his latest tweet indicated that a transfer U-turn may have to be on the cards for last season’s third-best team in England.

All talk surrounding a potential Chelsea move for the former Blues academy player has fallen flat. West Ham’s asking price of £150million coupled with the other priorities Chelsea have already on the agenda in the attacking and defensive areas means that all midfield activity hasn’t been able to get going as of now.

Thomas Tuchel has already told Chelsea why they can’t let Neymar leave PSG for Man City

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has previously said he does not believe there is a better player in world football then Neymar amid shock links emerging that one of Man City and Juventus could make a move for the Paris Saint-Germain star.

The Parisians have undergone major surgery already this summer following a review from their Qatar Sports Investments ownership. Kylian Mbappe has has signed a major new contract after it looked likely he would be joining Real Madrid on a free transfer, while sporting director Leonardo and manager Mauricio Pochettino were given the chop.

Lille boss Christopher Galtier is on the verge of being brought in to take over from Pochettino and Luis Campos has joined as director of football, but if rumours are to be believed Brazilian icon Neymar could be leaving.

Although the likes of Marca have highlighted that this would be an expensive signing for any club, Campos has reportedly double-downed on his opinion internally that this is the right time to move on the 30-year-old, as per Foot Mercato Journalist Santi Aouna.
