“Reece won’t be fit and Mason is going to be really tight,” Lampard revealed. “He (James) came out yesterday and went back in but because he had a little bit of an awareness but we hope the scan will show there is no real damage. It was just a little reminder that it is a bit too early to be out.”

The Red Devils remain interested in signing Kane but they are said to be actively pursuing alternatives, considering Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has made it clear that the England captain won’t be sold at the end of the current campaign.

Chelsea have also shown an interest in Kane and if they act on their admiration for the Spurs forward, they could have a free run of signing him, despite Levy’s strong stance on a sale.
