According to reports, Chelsea has three deals in the works and is ‘progressing’ with a deal to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton. Caicedo is reportedly one of a few potential acquisitions as the Blues scramble to cut their squad in front of the arrival of new head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The best clubs in Europe became interested in Caicedo after his performance with the Seagulls last season. Arsenal and Manchester United, Chelsea’s competitors in the Premier League, will present a challenge.

However, it is reported that negotiations between Chelsea and Brighton are “progressing well,” with co-owner Todd Boehly reportedly trying to negotiate Brighton’s asking price of £80 million. In January, Arsenal’s initial bid of almost £70 million was declined.

Chelsea anticipates concluding three deals in the upcoming weeks, one of which will involve Caicedo. According to reports, Kalidou Koulibaly and Cesar Azpilicueta will move.

Azpilicueta is reportedly awaiting permission from Chelsea management to join Inter Milan, according to Fabrizio Romano’s Caught Offside blog. The seasoned Spaniard is hoping to get the final year of his deal with the Blues terminated so that he may leave on a free transfer.

Koulibaly might leave Stamford Bridge with the team captain. Chelsea and Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal have reached a £21 million agreement to let last summer’s transfer disaster go.

Koulibaly cost £33 million when he was purchased from Napoli last summer, but he only played in 32 games overall, with a few high-profile mistakes along the way. The Senegal international will go in just one year.

Chelsea is hopeful that the arrival of Pochettino heralds the start of a new era. The new head coach of Boehly cannot start his new position until July 1.

According to Romano, Caicedo is one of a few new players Chelsea hopes to add to Pochettino’s roster. The rate of growth is not anticipated to, however, reach the levels reached in 2022–2023, when the club’s Cobham training facility gained a total of 16 stars.

Pochettino will take over an overworked squad and give the elimination of deadwood first priority. Graham Potter and Frank Lampard both complained last season that it was difficult for the team to train because of how large it was.

After the Blues turned down a £55 million bid for the playmaker on Sunday, Manchester United was reported to have given up on trying to sign Mason Mount. According to reports, the Red Devils’ proposal is still pending.
