But Mount’s current stint with the Blues ends in 2024 and there has been some speculation in the media that the club are having complications on agreeing a new contract with the midfielder.
But now – according to recnt reports on The Athletic, a breakthrough has been reached in recent weeks following latest talks between Mount’s representatives and Chelsea chairman Todd Boelhy and co-owner Behdad Eghbali.
Now Journalist Dean Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Chelsea and Mount could agree a new deal by February.
Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “From what I understand, they do expect to put this to bed quite quickly now from here.
“It might even be that he’s got his new terms agreed by the time the Champions League restarts in February.”
