Since winning the Premier League title with 93 points in the 2016-2017 season, Chelsea have never recorded past 72 points in the league table.

In the season following the title winning campaign under Antonio Conte, which is the 2017-2018 season, the London club finished the season 5th on the table with 70 points in total.

The following campaign, the 2018-2019 season, they finished third on the table with a total of 72 points.

The season after that, the 2019-2020 season, they only managed 66 points as they barely secured 4th position on the table.

The 2020-2021 season wasn’t much better as they only won one more point than they did the previous season to end the campaign on 4th position once again.

But, this season, under the first full league season of Thomas Tuchel, they are well on track to record the best points total since their title winning campaign in the 2016-2017 season.

Currently, the blues sit on 3rd position on the table with 70 points and two matches left to play.

They face Leicester City on Thursday and then Watford on the final day of the season. Just one win would in those matches would see them get more points than they have managed in the last 5 years.
