10. Jurgen Klopp.

At number ten, we have the German tactician Klopp who has spent an estimated sum of €677m in transfer fees so far.

His most notable signings to date remains Virgil Van Dijk and Alisson who were bought for a combined fee of €157m. Darwin Núñez is another name that springs to mind when Klopp’s biggest signings are mentioned, with the Uruguayan costing a total of €100m.

9. Manuel Pellegrini (€704m).

During his time at Manchester City, Pellegrini made some big-money signings, with the likes of Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Mangala all brought in under the Paraguayan manager’s watch.

He also signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema and Kaka at Real Madrid.

8. Unai Emery (€763m).

Emery has coached at various clubs like Arsenal, Valencia and currently Villarreal, but he spent the most money at PSG where he signed Neymar and Kylian Mbappe for a combined transfer fee of €402 million.

7. Ernesto Valverde.

The new Athletic Bilbao coach has spent €803m so far in his career, with his 3-year spell at Barcelona viewed as the period he spent the most money.

6. Antonio Conte.

Conte has already made 6 signings at Tottenham this summer, and could welcome more before the transfer window slams shut.

He’s obviously a serial winner but also one who loves to be backed with huge funds which explains why he has spent €855m in his managerial career.

5. Carlo Ancelotti.

The Italian gaffer is the only person to have won the UEFA Champions League title on 4 different occasions coupled with league titles in each of Europe’s top five leagues, but all these wouldn’t have been possible without the €910m he spent on new players.

4. Massimiliano Allegri.

Allegri was the coach who gave the greenlight for Juventus to sign a 33-year old Cristiano Ronaldo for €116m, so it’s no surprise the Italian manager has spent €930m in the transfer market since he started coaching.

3. Diego Simeone.

Simeone’s accumulative transfer spend stands at a whopping €942 million, but surprisingly the Argentine is yet to get his hands on a Champions League trophy.

Perhaps, success in Europe’s premier competition can’t be bought, no?

2. Jose Mourinho (€1 Billion).

Fondly called “The Special One”, Mourinho is one of only two managers to have reached the one billion mark when it comes to recruiting new players.

Easily regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time, Pep is first on this list having spent €1.2 billion on signing players.
