1. Picking Jorginho Frello ahead of Mateo Kovacic: Jorginho was very awful in the game against Manchester City and he made so many erroneous passes and halted so many attacks with his sloppy attitude. He also failed to perform the main duty of a defensive midfielder which is to protect the back line.

Kovacic would have been a better option. The Croatian midfielder has been one of Chelsea’s best player this season and in such a game where a win is needed to boost the team’s moral, Kovacic ought to have been deployed.

2. Kai Havertz selected ahead of Fofana. Havertz has been giving out a very unconvincing performance since the season began.

This has been largely blamed on the number 9 role which the coach has been featuring him in. Graham Potter could have given Fofana an opportunity to lead the attack.

Havertz was in the game against Fulham but his performance was below average. A coach who wants goals would not rely on Havertz due to the fact that he is not a natural number 9.
