Miilitary Apprehends Bandits Commander’s Arms Suppliers in Zamfara Troops, acting on military intelligence, have successfully apprehended three suspected gunrunners in Kaduna, believed to be supplying firearms to the notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji. The military high command, which disclosed this on Thursday, did not reveal the identities of the arrested individuals.
Bello Turji, along with 18 others, was declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters in November 2022, with a N95 million reward placed on their heads. Turji, notorious for his involvement in the deaths of over 200 people, including women and children, had evaded previous attempts to capture him through military air strikes.
The suspects, arrested between November 14 and 17, 2023, were intercepted on their way to deliver weaponry and ammunition to Turji in Zamfara. The troops recovered significant amounts of ammunition, including 504 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammo and 100 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo, along with RPG chargers, mobile phones, an ATM card, and a vehicle.
