The adjournment allows for the continuation of proceedings in the case against Emefiele.

Emefiele stands accused of abusing his authority by conferring a corrupt advantage upon Sa’adatu Yaro, a CBN staff member. The charges specifically relate to the alleged awarding of a contract for the procurement of 43 vehicles amounting to N1.2 billion between 2018 and 2020.

On November 22, Emefiele was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending a ruling on his bail application. Subsequently, Justice Hamza Muazu granted him bail in the sum of N300 million.

The judge specified that the former CBN governor must provide two sureties, each with certificates of occupancy and titles of properties within the Maitama district in Abuja.
