But this afternoon in a must-win match against Mainz, Dortmund are fumbling their chance to become champions again and football fans can’t help but compare them to Arsenal who practically did similar thing in the Premier League this season.

Recall that the Gunners literally stayed on top of the EPL table for 248 days, but ended up setting for a second place finish after bottling the league title by failing to gain maximum points from winnable games.

Mainz took the lead through Hanche-Olsen in the 15th minute, but Dortmund were handed a lifeline 4 minutes later when the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty. Unfortunately for them Sebastian Haller missed the spot-kick.

Karim Onisiwo then punished Dortmund by extending Mainz’s lead with a brilliant headed goal to leave the hosts on the brink of losing the Bundesliga title.
