Griezmann boost

Arsenal appeared to have been handed a huge blow in their reported pursuit of Antoine Griezmann, according to L’Equipe. The Frenchman is currently on loan with Atletico Madrid from Barcelona, but the report claims that an agreement is close for a permanent deal.

However, Atletico president Enrique Cerezo claims that isn’t the case, saying via Fabrizio Romano: “We have not met with Barcelona nor do we intend to do so. Griezmann story is pretty clear.” It could prove a huge boost for the Gunners, who have been linked with a January swoop for the striker.

Partey return

Arsenal may have been handed a huge boost with the return of Thomas Partey from injury ahead of their clash with Brentford on Saturday. The Ghanaian midfielder has made a return to full training and could be an option for Mikel Arteta to ponder over for the match against their London rivals.

Giroud prediction

Former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has backed the Gunners to make a return to the Champions League by the end of the season, claiming it will be an “interesting year” for the club. The Frenchman held plenty of praise for what he calls “his Gooners” years after leaving the Emirates.
