Arsenal may have had a quiet January transfer window but the upcoming summer window is expected to be a busy one for Mikel Arteta’s men....CONTINUE READING

A new striker continues to be heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, while another midfielder could be added to the Gunners squad. Incomings are going to be vital in north London but player sales are set to play a big role.

Rumours are expected to intensify over the next few months as the transfer window edges closer to re-opening. With that being said, football.london has taken a look at some of the biggest Arsenal stories on Friday, February 23.

Man United battle for Tel

Arsenal have registered an interest in another striker ahead of the summer transfer window with reports claiming Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel is of interest.

According to German publication Bild, the Gunners are prepared to battle Manchester United for the signature of the teenager. Tel only joined Bayern in 2022, scoring 12 goals in 56 games. United are said to be keen on signing the Frenchman to bolster their attacking options.

PSG are thought to be keen but Arsenal are reportedly keen on adding the centre-forward to their squad.

football.london says: “Tel was one of France’s most promising talents before moving to Bayern. However, Harry Kane’s arrival has left him second fiddle. Arsenal like to recruit a certain profile for Arteta’s team and it’s hard to see the Gunners move for a youngster to be their star striker next season.”

Kounde exit ruled out

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their hopes of signing Jules Kounde in the summer. The Barcelona defender was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League prior to his switch to the Spanish giants.

His future at the Camp Nou is currently uncertain but Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo has claimed that the 25-year-old doesn’t want to leave the Catalan side this summer.

The report adds that Arsenal are joined by Chelsea and Newcastle in monitoring Kounde, who has a reported €1billion release clause in his contract.

football.london says: “Kounde has shown his talent as one of the world’s best defenders on his day. However, he hasn’t performed anywhere near the level expected of him at Barcelona.
