Sean Dyche’s next task after returning to management with Everton is to keep the Toffees’ status as one of only six Premier League clubs to have been consistently present. Everton is 19th in the table with 15 points from 20 games, level with bottom-placed Southampton but only two points out of safety.
Arsenal, on the other hand, has been outstanding this season and shows no signs of slowing down. The additions of Leandro Trossard from Brighton and Jorginho from Chelsea have added to their experience, which they desperately needed as the season approached its climax.
Mikel Arteta has emphasized an attacking style of football, and his rewards are clear, as they now lead the league by 5 points despite having played one fewer game than second-placed Manchester City.
Despite this, they were eliminated from the FA Cup after a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City, courtesy of Nathan Ake. They have yet to face Manchester City twice in the league, which could be a game changer by the end of the season.
Players To Watch:
1. Martin Odegaard (Arsenal):
Odegaard consistently looks to receive the ball between the lines when he is higher up the pitch, and he makes the most of his half-turned body shape to play forward after receiving.
He is skilled at sliding through balls in behind from a central position when a wide forward makes a diagonal run in behind. He must be rooting for this game as Arsenal’s primary playmaker in order to pass the ball to his teammates.
2. Demarai Gray (Everton):
Gray has always been a winger who is quick and direct. However, his decision-making speed during possession has generally been impressive. He frequently plays passes off of one or two touches, quickly transferring possession.
Anthony Gordon’s departure means that Dyche will need to heavily rely on him if they want to make it through this term. He and Anthony Gordon have both scored three goals for Everton this season, making them the team’s top two goal scorers.
