A first half goal by Marcus Rashford and a quick reply by Martin Ødegaard set the game at 1-1 at halftime,but late goals by Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus killed off the game in added time.

Heading into the international break, Manchester United sit 11th in the Premier League table with 6 points out of 4 games and a goal difference of -2. Erik ten Hag of course will be placed under scrutiny and made to answer for such a poor display by the team today.

However,Anthony Taylor who was the officiating referee today didn’t help matters as he made a number of wrong calls against the Red Devils, pitching the game to the favor of the Gunners who clearly had a field day.

Here are three key wrong decisions made by the VAR against Manchester United today to aid Arsenal’s win at the Emirates;

1. Cancelling Alejandro Garnacho’s goal for offside

A ball played through to Garnacho by Casemiro was wrongly chalked off by VAR after a ridiculous line was drawn.

The goal which would have put the Red Devils up in the 88′ minute of the game was wrongly canceled by Anthony Taylor.

2. Failing to give a penalty on a foul on Rasmus Højlund

Already looking sharp and instinctive on his Manchester United debut,a stone wall penalty was denied Manchester United after Højlund was tripped by Gabriel late into the second half.

What was more,the Gunners quickly took advantage of a man down,rallied round and helped set up Declan Rice’s goal.

3. Refusal to give Bukayo Saka a red card on a dangerous challenge on Bruno Fernandes

In a 50-50 challenge made by Dalot and Bukayo Saka,the latter slipped and made a dangerous tackle on Bruno Fernandes which earned him only a yellow card.

Put Casemiro in place of Bukayo Saka and the Red Devils would have been playing with a man down already.

If the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) isn’t doing it’s work then it ought to be scrapped instead of it being allowed to get several decisions like this wrong week in week out.

The Premier League could also consider bringing in the Champions League offside technology to help raise the standard of the league and stop controversial decisions being made by the already existing technology….READFULL
