Kyari is currently being held in his cell at Gambia Street, Area 11, Garriki, Abuja, according to Vanguard.
According to NDLEA sources, he was relying on food brought in by an unidentified friend rather than consuming what was prepared for him and the other detainees inside the cell.
According to reports, the once-respected and highly ranked police officer confided in his cellmates that he did not trust whatever agency officials would provide him since he desired to remain alive to establish his innocence regarding the claims against him.
Additionally, it was revealed that nearly 24 hours after he was declared wanted by the agency and then arrested and turned over to them, no visitor has been permitted to visit him or four other IGP team members.
This, sources say, is in accordance with NDLEA commander Buba Marwa’s direction that none of the suspects be permitted to receive visitors until the agency concludes its investigation into the charges against them.
However, NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi was quoted as indicating that suspects were being fed on a regular basis and that they were not being starved.
