The current situation of things in the Southern region might force the people to switch their allegiance in the next general election. Politically, it is nearly impossible for all the Southern states to successfully change their governments in the next gubernatorial elections.

However, there are two incumbent Southern Governors who might not be elected for second term in the next elections. Check out the two Southern Governors below:

1. Seyi Makinde (Oyo State)

There is a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State. It still remains unclear if the people would want him to govern the state for another four years.

Seyi Makinde was considered one of the most active governors in the South-West during the early stages of his tenure.

However, the poor state of security in the state (in recent times) has sparked questions on whether he has what it takes to continue governing the state when his tenure ends in 2023.

2. Hope Uzodinma (Imo State)

It is not surprising that Hope Uzodinma’s name came up on the list. In the 2019 gubernatorial election, Hope Uzodinma came fourth after the result of the polls was announced.

However, he managed to clinch the governorship seat after the Supreme Court announced him as the winner of the election.

For the people of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma’s victory over the incumbent Governor in 2019, Emeka Ihedioha, would go down as one of the most controversial twists in the political scene.

However, the next gubernatorial election might be the awaited opportunity to right the wrongs. The people of the state might decide to vote out Hope Uzodinma in the next gubernatorial election.
