The game ended in 2-1 draw, with Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes scoring an equalizer in the 78th minute that was initially ruled out for offside by the linesman. However, after consulting VAR, referee Stuart Atwell awarded the goal, much to the disappointment of Manchester City.

The goal was scored as a result of a through ball from Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who played the ball to Marcus Rashford, who was in an offside position.

However, Rashford did not touch the ball and instead left it for Fernandes, who scored with a curling shot from the edge of the box. The VAR review determined that Rashford did not interfere with play, and thus the goal was allowed to stand.

This decision which was made by VAR, saw Manchester City drop points in the title race, The Manchester Blues felt that they had been denied a crucial victory.
