It should be recalled that for a while now, several members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have continued to join the APC, with some being people that are known to be under investigation by the EFCC for one reason or the other. However, contrary to the misconception that defecting to the APC, would see the EFCC, close their cases, some of these former members of the PDP, have recently seen their cases reopened. Two of such politicians are:

1. Senator Stella Oduah

The Senator representing Anambra North District in the 9th Assembly, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for the APC barely a few weeks to the recently-concluded 2021 Anambra state governorship election. Despite her defection, her case with the EFCC has been reopened (source: The Cable). According to the report, she is being probed for an alleged misappropriation of public funds to the tune of 5 billion Naira.

2. Chief Femi Fani-Kayode

A former Minister of Aviation, and well-known critic of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. However, many Nigerians were shocked in September, when the former Minister dumped the PDP, to join the APC. A few months after his defection, reports emerged, revealing that he has been arrested by the anti-graft agency for money laundering to the tune of 4.9 billion Naira.
