6. Gerrard’s slip (2014)

His slip against Chelsea in the 2013-14 season was seen by many as pivotal in preventing Liverpool from winning their first domestic title since 1990.

He is one of the greatest Premier League players ever, but an error by Steven Gerrard allowed Demba Ba to race through and slot past Simon Mignolet in front of the Kop as the Reds were on an 11-game winning streak and top of the table. Willian added a second goal late on as Brendan Rodgers’ team lost control of the Premier League title battle. Manchester City didn’t look back.

5. Aguero won the Premier League for Manchester in 2012.

The Premier League season that ended in May of 2012 will go down in history as one of the most thrilling ever. Manchester City knew they might win the Premier League title for the first time in 44 years if they beat Queens Park Rangers on the last day.

Roberto Mancini’s side was down 2-1 with time running out and the title was now in the hands of Manchester United. Sergio Agüero scored the title-winning goal with the final kick of the season after Edin Deko had equalized in the 92nd minute. Martin Tyler’s analysis on Sky Sports was legendary, and the goal shattered the hearts of the United players and supporters alike. Nothing like this will ever be seen again, I swear to God.

4. Man Utd 1-6 Man City – Baloteli why always me? (2011).

Mario Balotelli, oh, Mario Balotelli. He was quite the character. The revelation that the Italian striker had been blowing off fireworks in his bathroom leaked more than 24 hours before the Manchester derby at Old Trafford in October 2011. Isn’t that perfectly normal? Balotelli revealed a T-shirt with the message “Why always me?” after giving Manchester City the lead.

Roberto Mancini’s team, who went on to win the Premier League that season, then took advantage of Jonny Evans’ red card to score five goals in the second half, handing United their biggest Premier League defeat.

3. Sir Alex Ferguson retires from the game.

After more than two decades as the manager of a major football team, he stepped down. Sir Alex Ferguson decided to resign as manager of Manchester United. We knew when he retired that the greatest manager in football history was saying his goodbyes to everyone. Nobody can deny that Sir Alex is the best; he revolutionized the game forever.

2. 2019: Liverpool refuse to give up against Barcelona.

Some have said that this match should be considered a pattern for comebacks because the Reds hung in there until half-time substitute Georginio Wijnaldum startled Barça with a quick fire double to square the tie immediately after the break.

Liverpool knew that surrendering an away goal at this point would have effectively ended their chances, but they persisted, and their fairytale comeback was completed when unlikely hero Origi scored after an exquisite Trent Alexander-Arnold corner routine, and the score remained 4-0. Over the years, Anfield has hosted a number of memorable European nights, but this one definitely stood out.

1. The Messi vs Ronaldo rivalry.

We can’t just pick one moment from this amazing rivalry’s numerous. We chose to put everything in one paragraph because there were so many to choose from during the last decade. Nothing like this will ever happen again, as Messi and Ronaldo devoted their hearts and souls to beat their greatest rival. All we can do is express our gratitude for all they have done for us over the previous ten years.
