Raw foods also don’t taste good when they are eaten. When foods like cassava, egg plant and potatoes are eaten raw, it can make some side effects to occur. I will share the foods you should never eat raw.
Below are them.
1.Cassava
Cassava should never be eaten raw because some of them contain cyanogenic glucoside. This is a poisonous substance that affects you due to its decomposition into cyanide. You can either boil the cassava or process it into garri or fofo.
2.Egg plant.
Egg plant is not supposed to be eaten raw because it contains solanine. When eaten raw you could fall sick due to the high amount of solanine present. It is better to cook the egg plant properly to reduce the solanine levels. You can rather go for garden egg instead of eating egg plants raw.
3. Green beans
Green beans should never be eaten raw because they are a bit toxic. You can still cook them and add them to your food. The nutrients will still be available to keep you healthy.
4. Kidney beans
Some people eat their kidney beans raw, but it is not advisable because it contains toxins. Phytohaemagglutinin present in red kidney beans causes poisoning. To reduce the toxicity of the kidney beans, you need to cook it very well.
5.Potatoes
Potatoes may be sweet when eaten raw but they are not good for your health. The Solanine present in them makes them harmful and toxic when eaten raw. You can boil your potatoes, by this the solanine levels will be reduced.
6.Spinach
This is a very nutritious and rich leaf know for its high amount of iron and copper. It is not advisable for you to consume spinach raw due to E. coli. Wash and cook your spinach properly before eating inorder to reduce your risk of E coli infection.
